Steve Davis: Joe Theismann... Say What?
Longtime QB and broadcaster Joe Theismann says he wants to turn Lebron James into an NFL QB. He thinks Lebron could play in the NBA for another 4 years and then transition to QB. Theismann believes Lebron is such a gifted athlete that he could do it. Besides, you can be a great QB at 38 or 39 but not NBA player.
I think Lebron is amazing. I think he might be the second best player ever when he is done, behind Michael Jordan.
I believe the hardest thing to do in sports is to hit a baseball, and the hardest position to play is QB.
Jordan tried to switch from basketball to hitting a baseball and couldn't do it. Why does Theismann think Lebron could do it?
The great QB's have done it their whole lives. And, you don't have to be the best athlete to be a great QB, so I am not sure why that gives Lebron a significant edge. Maybe Lebron could have done it if he started as a QB, but there is no way he could do it now.
