Former Baltimore City Police Commissioner To Chair Md. Task Force

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Former Baltimore City Police Department commissioner Fredrick H. Bealefeld III will chair a task force examining possible problems within Anne Arundel County's police department.

County Executive Laura Neuman announced the task force's creation last month, and on Thursday she also announced a tip hotline has been set up. People can use the tip line to call to report concerns about unethical or inappropriate behavior within the department. Neuman said she was creating the task force after getting dozens of complaints.

Bealefeld retired last year after 31 years with the Baltimore police department. He was chosen to head the department in 2007. On the task force he will join law enforcement officers from Montgomery County and Washington.
