Eisenhower Memorial Group Makes D-Day Film On Ike

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Officials working to build a memorial honoring President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Washington are launching a new short film online to mark the 69th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Europe during World War II.

The film and interactive features launching Thursday are part of a digital memorial to accompany the physical memorial once it's built in Washington. D-Day will be one of seven "pivotal moments" of Eisenhower's legacy.

Eventually, visitors will access videos and interactive elements through their smartphones while visiting the Eisenhower Memorial.

Designers used rarely seen footage of the D-Day landing.

Jake Barton of the design studio Local Projects is leading the creation of the e-memorial. He says the D-Day feature puts online visitors in Eisenhower's shoes, making critical decisions about the massive invasion.
