3 Malnourished Dogs Rescued From Western Md. Home

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Three malnourished dogs, including a pit bull, have been rescued from a home in Washington County.

The county's Humane Society retrieved the three dogs after getting a warrant to rescue the animals.

The group's development director, Addie Nardi, tells the Herald-Mail of Hagerstown that the pit bull is emaciated but relatively stable, but that the two other animals -- a pit-bull mastiff mix and a mastiff -- are "fighting for their lives."

An anonymous call reported that three dogs were fighting and were seemingly neglected. The owners refused to let humane society officers into their home, so the officers collaborated with other county agencies to get a warrant.
