4-Year-Old Dies After Car Hits Tree In Waldorf

WALDORF, Md. (AP) -- The Charles County Sheriff's Office says a 4-year-old boy has died after being injured in a single-car crash in Waldorf.

Deputies say Darius Harsha of Waldorf died early Wednesday at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, where he was taken after Monday's accident.

Authorities say Darius and his two young siblings were passengers in a car driven by their mother, 25-year-old Dominicque Marie Hodges. Police say Hodges was driving east on Billingsley Road when she lost control of her car and hit a tree.

Hodges was taken to Washington Hospital Center with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Her 2-month-old daughter and 6-year-old son were taken to Children's in critical condition.

The accident is under investigation.
