Montgomery County Police Shoot Suspect

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) — Montgomery County Police say officers shot a man during a traffic stop, but he fled and crashed nearby.

Police say officers spotted a car linked to a domestic incident in Howard County on Sunday night and stopped it. Officer Rebecca Innocenti says when the officers approached the SUV, they saw a shotgun inside and one officer fired at the driver, striking him.

But police say the man drove away and later crashed into stopped car at Quince Orchard Road and Great Seneca Highway in Gaithersburg.

Police say the man, a suspect in the domestic incident in Howard County, is recovering from his injuries at a hospital. No one else was hurt.
