Teen Swimmer Goes Missing On Potomac River

POTOMAC, Md. (AP) -- Officials say a 19-year-old man went missing while swimming in the Potomac River near Great Falls.

The search for the teen resumed on Tuesday morning, a day after severe weather interrupted a search by Montgomery County, Fairfax County and National Park Service crews. Montgomery County fire department spokeswoman Beth Anne Nesselt says four swimmers went out, but only three managed to return.

She says the teen went missing Monday afternoon near Purple Horse Beach, where the Billy Goat Trail crosses Bear Island. She says going in the water prohibited in that area because of strong currents.
