Man Dead, Woman Injured After Gaithersburg Crash
GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say a man is dead and a woman is seriously injured after a car crash in Gaithersburg.
Police say it happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when a sport utility vehicle overturned after striking a utility pole, bus stop, tree, fire hydrant and pole support cable.
Police say an officer had tried to stop the car after the driver failed to dim the high-beam headlights. Police say the driver sped away, drove through a red light and at some point left the road on E. Diamond Avenue.
The man and the woman were ejected from the car. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and police say the woman is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
