OAKWOOD, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police say a man has been found dead in a Cecil County road.

Troopers went to U.S. Route 1 near the Conowingo Dam in Oakwood about 2:40 a.m. Friday. A man was lying in the road, and despite troopers’ resuscitation efforts, the man was pronounced dead.

He is identified as 51-year-old Mark T. Grubbs of Pylesville. Officials say it was initially thought that Grubbs had been involved in a car accident, but his injuries left them uncertain.

His body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy.
