Teen Arrested In Glen Burnie For Snatching Elderly Women’s Purses

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ)— A Severn teen has been arrested for snatching elderly women’s purses at a grocery store in Glen Burnie.

Eighteen-year-old Milton Arthur Williams is charged with robbery, assault, possession of CDS and two counts of theft.

A 75-year-old woman told officers her purse was snatched as she was walking home from the Giant located in the 6600-block of Ritchie Highway around 11 a.m. Monday.

Police say Williams took an undisclosed amount of money and dumped the purse as he ran westbound through the apartment complex.

K-9 responded to the scene, developed a track and found the victim’s property without the money.

Minutes later, at approximately 11:46 a.m., a call for a second similar incident occurred in the Giant parking lot located in the 6600-block of Ritchie Hwy.

In that incident, a 66-year-old woman from Glen Burnie was pushing her shopping cart through the store’s parking lot when the same suspect approached her and stole her purse from the cart.

He was last seen running northbound on Ritchie Highway. Officers were already in the immediate area and set a perimeter.

Officers and detectives located the suspect in the wooded area off of Shelly Road.

After a brief foot pursuit, Williams was caught and arrested.

Evidence belonging to the victims was recovered from him.
