DOC Officers Take Plunge For Charity In PG County

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Department of Corrections officers in Prince George's County are taking the plunge to benefit school children.

Senior officers will participate in a dunk tank event Friday at the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro. The officers will be in uniform for the dunks, which will last from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will raise money to purchase school supplies for elementary age students in Prince George's County.

The so-called Pencil Box Project will focus on elementary schools located in the Glassmanor/Oxon Hill community. Pre-packaged supplies will be given to students at the start of the school year.
