Missing Man's Body Found In Chesapeake Bay

CHURCHTON, Md. (AP) -- Maryland Natural Resources Police say search crews have found the body of an Anne Arundel County man who disappeared while retrieving a friend's hat from the Chesapeake Bay.

Police spokesman Sgt. Brian Albert said the body of 20-year-old Thomas Brown of Churchton was found Tuesday morning not far from the spot where he was last seen.

Albert says Brown was with a group of friends at a pier in the Franklin Manor community on Monday afternoon when a gust of wind blew a woman's hat into the water. He says Brown went into the water to retrieve the hat, but didn't resurface.

Teams searched the water until nightfall and then resumed the search Tuesday morning, when Brown's body was spotted about 1,500 feet from the pier.
