Ravens Sign TE Visanthe Shiancoe To 1-Year Contract

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Ravens add a new set of hands to the roster.

The team has signed TE Visanthe Shiancoe to a one-year contract. General Manager Ozzie Newsome made the announcement Sunday afternoon.

Shiancoe, a Morgan State alum, is a 10-year veteran with the NFL. Most recently, he spent time with the New England Patriots, seeing action in four games in 2012 and being inactive for another.

Posting 243 catches for 2,677 yards and 27 touchdowns in his career, Shiancoe was selected in the third round of the 2003 draft by the New York Giants.

In 2009, he totaled a career-high 56 catches for 566 yards and a career-best 11 touchdowns.
