$11M In Federal Funds Awarded For BWI Improvements

LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a grant of more than $11 million for runway safety enhancements and upgrades at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The grant will be used for the first phase of improvements to bring one runway to Federal Aviation Administration safety standards. The improvements will include rehabilitation of the pavement, improved grading and stormwater management.

The grant was announced Thursday by Sens. Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin and Rep. John Sarbanes.
