Free Dental Clinic In Laurel Draws Hundreds

LAUREL, Md. (AP) -- Hundreds of people are taking advantage of a free dental clinic in Laurel.

More than 300 dentists, hygienists and pharmacists volunteered for the event Friday and Saturday at the Saint Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel. The high school's gym has been turned into a 50-chair dental office, and patients are getting dental work done from cleanings and root canals to fillings and extractions. Some people camped out overnight in order to get a spot.

The event is being sponsored by Catholic Charities and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Office of Oral Health.
