OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- Ocean City Police have arrested a Pennsylvania man they say hijacked a cab driver at knifepoint.

Officers say about 6:15 p.m. Saturday, a cabbie picked up a man on 49th Street. Police say the man grabbed the driver by the throat, brandished a knife and threatened him.

The driver was able to stop the taxi on 91st Street and get out. Police say the carjacker drove the car on Coastal Highway. Police say two witnesses let the driver into their car and followed the taxi.

Police say the suspect stopped the taxi and ran to the beach. An off-duty officer from the Clarkstown, N.Y., police department contacted police and followed the suspect. Officers pulled the suspect from the water.

Ian Edward Keim, 36, of Neville, Pa., has been charged with robbery and carjacking.
