Mt. AIRY, Md. (WJZ) — Maryland State Police have arrested a Carroll County man and charged him with murdering his father.
According to police, Joseph Pine, 31, killed his father, Michael Pine, 63, Monday afternoon.
Police say a neighbor called 911 to report a disturbance at the home. When police arrived, they saw the suspect standing outside.
Police say they saw Michael Pine lying on the front porch of the home next door. He had sustained obvious trauma to his upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, there was an altercation at the home. Police believe Pine assaulted his father, possibly with one or more knives. The victim ran outside, followed by the suspect.
Pine will be charged with first- and second-degree murder. Police say additional charges are possible. Police say he is currently at Carroll Hospital Center for medical and psychological evaluations.
