Police: Body Of Missing Swimmer Found In Potomac River

POTOMAC, Md. (AP) — Montgomery County authorities say they have recovered the body of a man who was swept away while wading in the Potomac River.

Emergency crews were called to Macarthur Boulevard in Potomac on Thursday evening where they recovered the body near the Maryland Chute portion of the river.

Police say they believe it is the 22-year-old man who went missing on Labor Day, but will continue to investigate. The man was sitting in the water with friends near the Great Falls overlook but when he decided to wade in deeper, he was swept downriver. Crews searched unsuccessfully for the man on Monday and Tuesday.

The man’s name has not been released.
