Man Dead In Motorcycle Crash In Carroll County

TANEYTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Authorities in Carroll County say a 56-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Taneytown.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says authorities were called to the crash site on Kump Station Road just east of Maryland Route 194 at 10:10 a.m. Saturday.

The sheriff's office says the motorcycle's driver, John William Hill of Manchester, Md., was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed that Hill appears to have failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. He traveled off the side of the roadway onto a shoulder and struck a fence post and wire.
