Md. Man Cited For Negligence After Crashing Boat

DEALE, Md. (AP) — Police say a Prince George’s County man has been injured after crashing his boat into a jetty in Deale.

Maryland Department of Natural Resources police tell The Capital that Charles Todd Mitchell, 44, is being cited for negligence and other violations after crashing his boat late Saturday night.

Mitchell told investigators he was navigating his 24-foot boat in the area of Rockhold Creek when it “bumped into something.” It then crashed into the jetty.

Mitchell was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries. The accident caused extensive damage to the boat, including a hole visible in the hull.

Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
