Purple Friday Caravan Rolls Across Md. Ahead Of Ravens Home Opener

CATONSVILLE, Md. (WJZ)— It's the first Purple Friday of the Ravens season. Purple Pride is reaching an all-time high as the Purple Caravan travels across Maryland.

Jessica Kartalija has more on the excitement.

The Ravens are back.

"The atmosphere, the excitement. The excitement is just really, really fun. There's nothing compared to it," a fan said.

At the Verizon store in Harbor East, fans were fired up.

"It is incredible. The feedback and support from the fans has just gone up so many levels," said Whitney J. , a Ravens cheerleader.

Paper, plastic or purple pride? At the Giant Store in Catonsville, fans arrived early, decked out in purple.

"I am here to see the Ravens fans. Wooo!  Cheer my team on!" said Anita Leach, of Catonsville.

The Purple Caravan is back with more Ravens pride than ever.

"We are partners with the Ravens and the company decided to bring them here so we can bring it to the community.  This is one of the great things about being a partner with the world champion Baltimore Ravens," said Josh Hardester, Giant manager.

The band took over the produce section, and the cheerleaders inspired even the youngest fans. It's clear football is back.

"We're here to welcome the Ravens to their first home game," a fan said.

With just two more sleeps until kickoff, there's high hopes for the season ahead.

"We lost a few good players, but we replaced them with new ones, and we are going to be the Super Bowl champions again," Leach said.

"The Ravens are going to go all the way. We are Super Bowl bound once again. Go Ravens. Yeah!" a fan said.

The Purple Friday Caravan is expected to make 20 stops across Maryland. For a full schedule, click here.
