Maryland State Police Investigate Inmate's Death

CUMBERLAND, Md. (WJZ) -- Maryland State Police and officials from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services are investigating an inmate's death.

Police say Jason T. Wallace, 29, died Friday evening at the Western Correctional Institution. An autopsy will be performed at the chief medical examiner's office.

Preliminary investigation indicates that shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday, correctional officers were notified of an unconscious inmate in a cell. Police say they have a suspect and they will identify that person once charges are filed.
