Expanding Resources: Enoch Pratt Receives $3 Million Grant From The Weinberg Foundation

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Enoch Pratt Free Library is the recipient of a $3 million capital campaign grant from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation for the renovation of the Central Library/State Library Resource Center.

"The Weinberg Foundation's grant is essential to make sure the Pratt is a vibrant 21st century library and will ensure that free programs, resources and services continue for generations to come," said Carla D. Hayden, Chief Executive Officer of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, in a release.

The grant includes funding for the new Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Children's Learning Center in the Central Library.

Some of the renovation highlights include a designated job and career center, new conference rooms, redesigned areas for youth learning and expanded computer access.

Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2015 and is estimated to be complete in July 2018.

The Pratt serves about 500,000 visitors a year.
