MGM To Provide First Look At Proposed Casino At National Harbor

FORT WASHNGTON, Md. (AP) -- MGM Resorts International is unveiling the design of a proposed casino near the nation's capital.

The company is scheduled to provide an update on its bid to develop what has been described as an $800 million facility at National Harbor.

Maryland voters approved gambling expansion in November to allow table games and a casino in Prince George's County.

MGM Resort International's chief executive officer has described plans to build a luxurious and architecturally unimposing casino and hotel.

Jim Murren, who is scheduled to talk about the design, said in a November interview that he envisioned an elegant building with glass, brick and stone.

Two other companies also have applied for the casino license. State officials say they hope to designate the winner at the end of the year.
