Va. Man Caught With Loaded Gun At Salisbury Airport
SALISBURY, Md. (WJZ)— TSA caught a Virginia man with a loaded gun at checkpoint at the Salisbury-Ocean City-Wicomico Regional Airport on Tuesday.
As the traveler came through the TSA checkpoint, the officer who was staffing the checkpoint X-ray machine spotted the gun in the man's carry-on bag.
TSA contacted the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department, which responded and removed the .380 caliber handgun, loaded with five rounds.
There was no impact to airport operations. A sheriff's deputy confiscated the firearm from the Mappsville, Va., resident and permitted the man to catch his flight—minus the gun and ammunition.
Passengers are permitted to travel with firearms in checked baggage if they are properly packaged and declared.
