MTA May Add Bus Between Annapolis, New Carrollton

NEW CARROLLTON, Md. (AP) -- Bus commuters traveling between Annapolis and Washington may soon have another travel option.

The Capital reports the Maryland Transit Administration is considering adding a new stop at the New Carrollton Metro station to two bus routes coming from Annapolis.

Transit officials say they are in the early stages of evaluating options for the 922 and 950 bus routes. This comes four years after the MTA cut its 921 bus route between Annapolis and New Carrollton because of budget cuts and low ridership.

In 2011, Young Transportation Services began offering the 921 bus route to New Carrollton but had to raise fares due to low ridership.

By 2015, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development expects to move about 300 workers from Crownsville to New Carrollton.
