Rock On: Baltimore's Hard Rock Cafe Reopens

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- There is new life at Baltimore's crown jewel, the Inner Harbor. The Hard Rock Cafe reopened with a multi-million dollar upgrade and they rocked hard Tuesday night!

Kai Jackson explains it's just the latest revamp for the tourist spot.

It's a smashing success at the reopening of the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Baltimore. The restaurant known for rock and roll, food and fame reopened after a multi-million dollar renovation. It includes more memorabilia and a new stage.

"Well, I think from their perspective, they want to have a great facility along the Harbor and be competitive with the other options that are available," said Sam Rogers, Visit Baltimore.

Phillips Seafood is one of those available options. It's a neighboring business to the Hard Rock Cafe and the Maryland restaurant icon had its own renovation in 2011. All of this remodeling is an effort of longtime businesses to keep pace with Baltimore's growing Harbor area.

"So tonight at the Hard Rock Cafe in Baltimore, we have a real special performance by Imagine Dragons," said Hard Rock Cafe Chief Marketing Officer John Galloway.

"Well, I mean Hard Rock is all about rock and roll. You know, it's been there from the very beginning," said Dan Reynolds, Imagine Dragons.

The grand reopening had a dual purpose. It was also a chance to donate to a good cause.

"We are thrilled to be here tonight at the Hard Rock to benefit Casey Cares," said Casey Baynes.

The Casey Cares Foundation helps critically ill children and their families. The organization got a check for $10,000 from the Hard Rock Cafe.

Some Ravens and Orioles players also attended.

The Hard Rock Cafe has 139 restaurants in 51 countries.
