Man Shot By Police Is Charged In Armed Robbery
MIDDLE RIVER, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County police say a man who was shot by officers has now been charged in an armed robbery that occurred last week.
Derek Roberts, 44, was arrested Friday morning after a traffic stop. Police say the officers approached Roberts while his vehicle was stopped at a traffic light in Middle River. Police say the officers saw Roberts reach for a gun, and they opened fire.
Police say Roberts attempted to flee after he was shot. He was ultimately captured and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Roberts has been charged in an Oct. 2 robbery at a coin and jewelry store in Timonium. Police say Roberts and another man forced two employees to lie on the floor and tied their hands. They fled with jewelry, coins, a phone and a handgun.
