Teacher Training Event Falls Victim To Shutdown

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The federal budget battle is keeping some Frederick County public school teachers from meeting with Army researchers for professional development.

The Frederick News-Post reports that a science, technology, engineering and math symposium planned for Friday has been canceled.

The school district says about 100 teachers had planned to attend the event organized through a partnership with Fort Detrick.
Coordinator Kim Day says organizers hope to reschedule the event.
