Record 41 Bears Killed On First Day Of Md. Hunt
GARRETT COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- It's a fast start to Maryland's black bear hunt.
Since the season was reopened in 2004, Monday's first day set a new record.
Hunters in far Western Maryland killed 41 black bears, topping the previous record of 38 in a single day.
Department of Natural Resources biologists expect this year's quota of 98 to 130 bears to be quickly met, with hunting conditions said to be perfect.
