Baltimore Police Officer Sentenced In Drug-Dealing Plot

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore police officer has been sentenced to eight years in prison on drug and weapons charges.

Kendell Richburg, 36, had pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to distribute heroin and possession of a firearm to further drug trafficking. He was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Baltimore.

Prosecutors say Richburg told a drug dealer when it was safe to sell drugs, and in return, the dealer gave information about his customers so Richburg could arrest them.
