Ready For Your Closeup? D.C. FotoWeek Is Underway

WASHINGTON (AP) -- More than 100 exhibits, programs and events are opening as part of the FotoWeek DC 2013 festival.

FotoWeek begins Friday, Nov. 1 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 10. Upcoming programs include exhibits at the Smithsonian Institution and at various embassies, as well as art-making activities and photography discussions.

This year, FotoWeek's central site will be housed at the National Geographic's Museum and in its courtyard. Inside, the museum will host its "Women of Vision" exhibit.

A community day at the Corcoran Gallery of Art on Saturday helps open the festival, along with opening parties that evening. The festival will again feature professional portfolio reviews and workshops.

Nighttime photo projections on building facades will begin next week at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and later at the National Geographic Society.
