Brown Endorsed By AFSCME

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A labor union for state employees has endorsed Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown in his run for governor.

AFSCME Maryland Council 3, which represents 25,000 workers across Maryland, endorsed Brown on Tuesday at a rally in Baltimore.

Patrick Moran, president of AFSCME Maryland Council 3, says Brown understands that hard-working public employees provide vital services to the state.

Brown has been announcing a variety of endorsements in recent months. Last month, Brown was endorsed by the Maryland State Education Association, which has more than 70,000 members.

Brown is running against Attorney General Doug Gansler and Del. Heather Mizeur for the Democratic nomination for governor.

The primary is in June.
