Inmate Accused Of Sodomizing Another Sentenced

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A convicted sex offender accused of sodomizing another inmate has pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.

Jason Michael Lettley, 23, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after his guilty plea Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court. The sentence will run consecutively to a seven-year term Lettley is serving for another crime.

Prosecutors say an inmate at the Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown reported on March 13, 2012 that Lettley had sexually assaulted, choked and beaten him.

Lettley was convicted of a second-degree sex offense in 2008.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that Lettley's lawyer requested that his client be transferred to a facility for mental health treatment. That request was denied.
