Jeremy Conn: A Prince In Texas...

So the Detroit Tigers have traded Prince Fielder and 30 Million dollars for Ian Kinsler of the Texas Rangers. The Rangers get a power hitting first baseman, who is still in his prime.  I believe Prince's number will go up significantly hitting in a hitters park. The Rangers also free up a middle infield spot, where they can put their top prospect, Jurickson Profar.  The Rangers have also said they are not done improving their team. So expect them to be active in free agency.

I love the deal for the Tigers as well.  They get rid of a big contract and that will help them to retain Max Scherzer and resign Miguel Cabrera as well.  On top of all that, they get a power hitting middle infielder.  Kinsler also bring some speed for the top of the lineup behind Austin Jackson.  The Tigers will be looking for some protection in the lineup for Miggy as well. Don't be surprised if the sign a power hitting corner outfielder during free agency.
