Mount St. Mary's Pulls Away From American 68-64

EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Sam Prescott had 15 points and nine rebounds on Saturday and Mount St. Mary's pulled away from American in the final minutes 68-64.

Taylor Danaher made 4 of 6 free throws in the final 30 seconds to help Mount St. Mary's (1-5) close out the game. The Mount took the lead for good 60-59 with 1:47 to play on Prescott's free throws. The Mountaineers had led most of the game until John Schoof made a jump shot with 5:22 left to give American its first lead since the opening minutes. The teams traded the lead five times over the next four minutes.

Rashad Whack had 17 points and Julian Norfleet added 15 points and four steals for the Mountaineers.

American (1-5) trailed 23-9 in the first half, but closed the gap to 33-27 by the half. Jesse Reed led all scorers with 21 points for the Eagles.
