20 Displaced By Ellicott City Apartment Fire

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) -- Howard County fire officials say about 20 people have been displaced by a fire at an apartment building in Ellicott City, but no one was hurt.

The fire broke out early Monday at the apartment building on Waterloo Road, forcing residents out into temperatures below freezing.

It took firefighters about an hour to control the blaze. The cause is under investigation.

Officials say all of the residents made it out safely, but all of the apartments in the six-unit building are expected to be declared uninhabitable. The Red Cross is helping about 20 residents who were displaced.
