Man Hospitalized After Officer-Involved Shooting

BRUNSWICK, Md. (AP) -- Authorities in Frederick County say a police officer in Brunswick has shot a man who they say pointed a handgun at him.

The Frederick County Bureau of Investigation says the shooting occurred about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday. Officials say Brunswick Police Officers Bryce McGuire and Nino Yoingco went to a home for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Police tell The News-Post of Frederick that 56-year-old Charles Dinterman emerged from a room carrying a handgun, which officers say he pointed at McGuire.

Authorities say McGuire fired six rounds at Dinterman, who was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

The Bureau and the Frederick County Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs Division are investigating the shooting. McGuire was put on paid leave.
