Md. Man Arrested On Charges Of Stealing Copper
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick police say they've arrested a man on charges of stealing copper pipes and wiring from a building.
Police say 34-year-old Zachary Daniel True, of Frederick, was arrested Friday. He faces charges including burglary, theft and malicious destruction of property.
Police say officers were called Nov. 23 for a report of people removing copper pipes and wiring from a building on Bucheimer Road.
Officers who responded spotted an adult and two juveniles leaving in a truck containing copper taken from industrial air conditioning units.
Police say True is suspected in several similar incidents of copper theft from vacant buildings. He was arrested Friday after police obtained an arrest warrant.
True said in a telephone interview Saturday that he sells scrap metal as a way to support his wife and children.
