Glenn Younes: Ravens & The TE

Leading into this weekends game against the Vikings the Ravens sit at 6-6 and in the playoff hunt, actually holding the 6th seed in the AFC (the number 2 Wild Card spot). It's a pretty amazing thing considering the post Super Bowl turnover, injuries and lack of run game with no offensive line. But the more I think about it and look league wide it's even more impressive the Ravens have been able to grind out 6 victories.

As I've mentioned on my show, when it's on the air, the TE position is maybe THE chic position, a must have in today's NFL. Yes, a QB is number one in the pecking order but with a pass happy matchup league, a play making TE is such a major weapon the 2013 Ravens haven't had. A huge gap they've been able to limp along without. Pretty impressive to be honest.

Which begs the question about Dennis Pitta.

Do they need him back now that the season is not a total failure? Of course.

Can he help in some capacity? Time will tell but he's a sure handed BFF of the QB, so it can't hurt.

Which brings us to the real question, is Pitta healthy enough to help and stay healthy? That's the real question because in a contract year for the 28 year old he's got to try to prove his value and it's all based on health. That said I'm of the belief that Dennis Pitta's value has gone up while he's been out, we've seen what the Ravens look like without his sure hands, redzone abilities and 3rd down capabilities. If he plays versus the Vikings or not until the Lions game it will be interesting to see his productivity because I could make the argument that he may hurt his wallet by coming back and NOT balling out.

Let's hope for the best. Health and beast mode, then everybody is happy.
