Murray, Coppin State Topple Delaware St. 73-54

DOVER, Del. (AP) -- Michael Murray led all scorers with a career-high 28 points as Coppin State sealed a 73-54 victory over Delaware State on Saturday in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Murray shot 11 of 15 (73.3 percent) from the floor and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Sterling Smith scored 15 points, and Taariq Cephas finished with 10 assists and 12 points. The Eagles (3-4, 1-0) shot 10 of 20 from 3-point range.

The Hornets (2-7, 0-1) led for the first five minutes of the game, but once Coppin State took the lead with 14:27 left in the first half, it never trailed again in the contest.

Casey Walker scored 18 points after shooting 7 of 14 (50 percent) from the floor, and led two other Hornets players in double figures. Kendal Williams scored 16 and Tyshawn Bell finished with 12 as all of Delaware State's points came from starters.
