Montgomery Council Head Says He's Paid D.C. Tickets

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Council President Craig Rice says he has paid more than $1,000 in delinquent tickets in Washington after a television station pointed out he had not paid them.

Rice was elected president of the council last week. He told The Washington Post he paid the delinquent Washington tickets Monday. Rice says he wasn't aware of the tickets because they were sent to the Acura dealership he leased his vehicle from. Rice says he made monthly lease payments online so he may have inadvertently discarded mail notices from the dealership.

A local television station  first reported that Rice owed $1,065 in Washington for five infractions including speeding, illegal parking and outdated tags. The station says he also owes $110 in Annapolis and $90 in Montgomery County.
