RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Kendall Anthony took up the slack, scoring 18 points as Richmond pounded Coppin State 71-49 in their non-conference Saturday night game.
Richmond’s leading scorer, Cedrick Lindsay (18.2 ppg), was questionable for the game following a knee strain and made only a brief appearance before taking the bench in the lopsided victory. Trey Davis and Terry Allen each added 12 points and combined for 15 rebounds.
Richmond (8-3) was up at halftime 37-21 on the back of shooting 60 percent from the floor while Coppin State (4-5, 1-0, Mid-Eastern Conference) managed only 26 percent. Coppin’s 7 for 8 from the free throw line was all that kept this game from being a total first-half disaster for the Eagles.
The Spiders upped the lead to 22 points with 14 minutes left, which was also the winning margin at the buzzer.
Michael Murray was the only Eagle in doubles with 13 points.
