ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Del. Heather Mizeur is now officially a candidate for governor.
The Washington Post reports that Mizeur and her running mate, Delman Coates, filed paperwork Tuesday with the State Board of Elections.
The Montgomery County Democrat faces Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown and Attorney General Doug Gansler in the June 24 primary.
Mizeur also filed a notice of her intent to participate in the state’s public financing system during the primary. She is the first gubernatorial candidate in two decades to participate.
Mizeur will be eligible for state matching funds on contributions of $250 or less in exchange for agreeing to limit overall primary spending.
