Jim Duquette Joins Scott And Jeremy

Jim Duquette of Baltimore Baseball Tonight and SiriusXM Baseball joined Scott and Jeremy today to talk about the Orioles offseason to date.

First up was that the Orioles signed former Oakland A's closer Grant Balfour. He acknowledged some differences between Jim Johnson and Grant Balfour. "He pitches up in the strike zone more than Johnson, he obviously has experience as a closer in the American League West which is a good division."

Cal Ripken joined the morning show and it was brought up that Cal would have rather had Jim Johnson or Grant Balfour, Jim agreed with Cal. "If there was no money involved who would you rather have I would say Johnson because you know what you got."

He gives a good explanation as to why the Orioles brought Grant Balfour in to fill in for Jim Johnson. "That was the problem with Johnson is that he was a pitch to contact guy, which is hard to maintain a high level of success as."

Jim gave his opinions on what possible moves that the Orioles could make by the end of the offseason and a former Pirates pitcher came up. "AJ Burnett, keep an eye on that. He hasn't decided whether he wants to play because he wants to spend more time with his family, shoot I'll drive him down there isn't a more perfect situation for him."
