Maryland Football Coach Randy Edsall Reviews The Season And Looks Forward To The Military Bowl

Randy Edsall is the current head coach of the Maryland Terrapins who went 7-5 and are headed to the Military Bowl.

Coach Edsall joined Ed & Steve to talk about Terps football heading into the Military Bowl against Marshall.

Randy Edsall Segment 1

Coach Edsall started off by talking about the Military Bowl that Maryland will be participating in. Coach said that every season starts with the goal of making a bowl game and the Terps accomplished many of the goals they had considering all the players they were missing including 2 big offensive weapons being out before the season started in Marcus Leak and Wes Brown.

Ed asked Randy if there was a game or two that would have gone different had Maryland not lost both its starting wide receivers and starting cornerbacks. Coach Edsall said of course some games may have been different, but he thinks they also may have helped because now other players have game experience and those starters now know they have to work hard because these kids can take their jobs if they get complacent.

Coach Edsall said he did not have to sell his kids on going to the Military Bowl because they appreciate making a post-season contest because you're not guaranteed anything, coach also said there are advantages to having a bowl game just down the road from your campus.

Randy Edsall Segment 2

The coach joined us for a 2nd segment on the show where he talked about recruiting and how it has gotten out of hand with how early teams start recruiting and the astounding amount of letters sent by schools to get players in.

Ed asked Coach Edsall how recruiting has changed over the years. Coach said just look at all the transfers you see, it shows how many kids are given false promises and how they move on immediately when they see through the lies.
