Mistakenly Released Md. Inmate Found

JESSUP, Md. (AP) -- Maryland corrections officials say they have found an inmate who was mistakenly released because of a paperwork error.

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services says a department enforcement team found Sierra Scipioni in Baltimore on Friday morning and took her into custody.

Officials announced Thursday that Scipioni had been mistakenly released from the Maryland Correctional Institute for Women on Dec. 3 after completing a sentence for a probation violation.

Last month, a Harford County judge had sentenced Scipioni to an additional two years for another probation violation, but officials say the new sentence was not recorded. The department says there was a paperwork error in its commitment office.
