Jacksonville State Surges Past Coppin State 72-61

TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands (AP) -- Darion Rackley scored 20 points to lead Jacksonville State past Coppin State, 72-61, in the consolation final at the Tropical Shootout Saturday night.

The Gamecocks lost to Arkansas-Little Rock in their opening game Friday night and Coppin State was knocked to the consolation round by Southern Mississippi.

The Eagles tied the game four times in the second half, knotting the score for the final time at 38-38 with 14 minutes to play, but were unable to take the lead.

Avery Moore tossed in 10 points as Jacksonville State pulled away with 14-4 run that pushed the lead to 52-43 and the Gamecocks maintained control the rest of the way.

Moore finished with 16 points for Jacksonville State (6-9), connecting on 4 of 7 3-pointers.

Arnold Fripp, Michael Murray and Taariq Cephas each scored 13 points for Coppin State (4-7).
