Southern Miss Cruises Past Coppin State 88-74

ROAD TOWN, British Virgin Islands (AP) -- Daveon Boardingham scored 14 points to lead four players in double digits as Southern Mississippi cruised past Coppin State 88-74 in the final game of the BVI Tropical Shootout on Friday night.

Jerrold Brooks had 13 points with three rebounds and six assists. Michael Craig scored 12 points and led the team with seven rebounds. Neil Watson chipped in with 11 points and eight assists. The Golden Eagles (10-2) hit 59.3 percent from the field overall.

Brooks started the scoring for the Golden Eagles with a 3-point jumper less than a minute into the first period. USM led by as many as 20 points with 2:48 left in the first before going into the break with a 50-34 advantage. The Golden Eagles maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second period and cruised to the win.

Michael Murray was the team leader for Coppin State (4-6) with 23 points.
