Tenants Of Prince George's Complex File Complaint

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) -- Tenants of a District Heights apartment building have accused the owners of threatening to illegally evict them.

A complaint filed with the Prince George's County housing development office also says the owners of the Parkway Heights apartment building have allowed the property to deteriorate and have failed to give tenants proper notice of the complex's sale, as required by a county affordable housing that was passed in July.

The Washington Post reports that the complaint was filed by the Maryland Legal Aid Office.

The garden-style apartment complex was sold last year to a group of owners and is scheduled for demolition.

Jessica Nunez, a spokeswoman for the owners, argued that the transaction occurred well before the county passed the affordable housing legislation and that nothing improper was done.
